Each weekday (including holidays) 52 weeks of the year, Anchor Lancaster's team of volunteers serves a healthy, hot breakfast buffet to all who are hungry. Led by Kitchen Manager, Stan Shank, the daily fare includes juice, milk, hot coffee/tea, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, & hot entrees such as egg casseroles, pancakes, breakfast tacos, French toast, sausage & potatoes and much more! Guests can relax and enjoy talking with friends in a safe, friendly atmosphere.
Representatives from local social service agencies also come during breakfast to meet with guests who need support services. Each week, a Penn State community nurse and a Penn Medicine doctor and nurse practitioner are available to give basic medical care, provide referrals for more urgent medical care, connect guests with specialists, and offer free vaccinations to this vulnerable population. Twice each week, police officers are in the dining room to provide support to the guests of Anchor Lancaster and to answer questions about "Blueprints for Addiction Recovery" program.
Building relationships and good food is what Anchor Lancaster is all about!
